One would think that owning a record store, my ears would be filled with music when I walk. Nope.

Mostly, I listen to audiobooks and podcasts. On this trip I’ve gone with some old reliables:

Love + Radio. One of the few podcasts I’ve financially supported. The quality of their productions, the variety of topics, and the depth of their research are without peer, imo. The Guardian described it best: “The show always feels out of time and space, in and of its own world.”

99% Invisible. For my money, the most consistently great podcast there’s ever been. The current series, The History of the United States in 100 Objects is diverse and fascinating.

Tetragrammaton. I absolutely hate the advertisers on this show, but Rick Rubin is an interesting interviewer and he has some wonderful guests. I’ve been a fan of David Whyte since being introduced to him in 2017 on a blind date with a Lecturer from UCLA. Rubin has a two-parter with Whyte which is wonderful.

RadioLab. This podcast has gone downhill since its two main hosts left, but I do sometimes revisit old episodes. My two favorites are Memory and Forgetting and Corpse Demon. Fascinating stuff.
